MAP– LA MELIOR VIA – ANNALES STADENSES 1236
The map represents the route of the “MELIOR VIA” described by Monk Albert in the Annales Stadenses, from Stade to Rome. Also in yellow are the other “romes” of the time considered in the same Annales
MAP – ROMWEG FORDERVEREIN
The map, compiled by Hochen Heinke for the Romweg, shows the route of the Munich Albert with indications of the major German cities it passes through.
MAP – THE THREE ROADS THAT CONNECT EUROPE
A further development of the Great Y is the new search for and activation of the VIA ROMEA STRATA that connected the Triveneto and Italy with Eastern Europe. At Padua it meets the Via Romea Germanica and they share some common features. In fact, since the Via Romea Strata is a bundle of routes, the two roads also overlap in South Tyrol, from the Brenner Pass to Trent. In Tuscany the Via Romea Strata joins the Francigena.
MAP – LE TRE ROMEE MAIORES – 2021
On September 11, 2021 on the occasion of the agreement signed by the three Romee Maiores (Via Francigena, Via Romea Germanica, Via Romea Strata) for the preparation of the Jubilee 2025, the map connecting all of Europe to Rome was presented.
MAP – THE BIG Y RUNNING THROUGH EUROPE
The Y consists of the Via Francigena (to the west), which runs from England through France, Switzerland and western Italy, and the Via Romea Germanica (to the east), which runs from the Baltic regions through Germany, Austria and eastern Italy. The two Routes meet in Montefiascone, reach Rome and then continue with the Southern Via Francigena in the direction of the Holy Land
MAP – ROUTE IN ITALY OF THE VIA ROMEA GERMANICA – UNIVERSITY OF FLORENCE
Based on the Convention entered into with the GESAAF Department of UNIFI, the route in Italy of the Via Romea Germanica has been defined and tested. It may be supplemented with local variants or diverticula, except for keeping as the main route the “Melior Via” indicated in the Annales Stadenses

MAP – THE PATHS OF EMILIA-ROMAGNA -2019
The Emilia-Romagna Region has mapped the supra-regional Caminos that pass through it. The Region is geographically at the center of all the Paths to Rome. Of these three are “international”: the VIA FRANCIGENA, the VIA ROMEA GERMANICA, and the ROMEA STRATA. Then there are other very important Ways, several of which are now famous, such as those of St. Anthony and St. Francis.
MAP– PILGRIM CROSSING BORDERS 2015
From April 22 to October 14, 2015, approximately 450 “pilgrims,” divided into stages, walked the route starting from the Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim (Norway) and ending in Rome – St. Peter’s Square, after covering 175 stages and over 3,000 kilometers. The creator of the project, Norwegian Stein Thue, oversaw the drafting of the map in collaboration with the numerous interested associations, including our Via Romea Germanica.
